Brain Scan Studios to publish Watchmensch

Media_httpfarm4static_zjdqi
Boston, MA December 22, 2008 - Brain Scan Studios proudly presents Watchmensch a parody of...you know.

After one of them is murdered, a team of lawyers who have had dealings with the comics industry must band together again against a conspiracy. But who is trying to kill Nite Nurse, Spottyman, Silk, 1700 Broadway Manhattan and Ozzyosbourne? And what is the cloned creature about to be dropped on New York City?

From the writer of Civil Wardobe and Lying In The Gutters comes this nine-panel-grid parody of comics, the comics industry, the movies they spawn and the creators that get trampled on. Oy vey.

24 pages B+W with full color covers.

We folks at Brain Scan Studios are a busy lot. Traveling, sleeping, eating, and occasionally writing fills up our days. Somehow we got the time to launch a new blog, I Has a Coupon! It's basically a blog about deals, big deals, small deals, some as big as your head. Yes, I know I can hear your griping, the blog is badly in need of a design, but with the holidays and all we launched it so the awaiting public can get their hands on all those juicy discounts. Please enjoy.

One Last Song review at Atomic Avenue

Atomic Avenue has some nice things to say about One Last Song #1

The future One Last Song paints is bleak, though perhaps not completely unrealistic given the current political climate of the United States, and the interesting artistic choices by creators CJ Hurtt and Shawn Richter, especially in the way of panel layout and scene juxtaposition (they like to cross-cut a lot), really sell the paranoia and general unease that make this book compelling.

Fiendish Fables Review

Ryan Brandt has a whole lot of kind words for Fiendish Fables.

First off, I want to congratulate John on a beautiful looking book. Really leaped out of all the other Dial R books at San Diego and comes off truly as a professional book. I will say that reading the book, I think Fiendish Fables ended up being a much better title than Whisper/Scream because most of the stories came off as being fables (since a whole lot of 'true' fables were very dark, had some sort of 'meaning' to the story or comeuppance happen) and they definitely were fiendish to say the least. I'll go on record as saying that I enjoyed the book a lot and it is worth the price. It's not flawless (I'll get to that in a second) but it really showcases John's talent and why he's been able to get most of the deals he's gotten with Arcana and other places. It's because John is just that dang good.
We think John's that dang good too.

Download Brain Scan comics for free!

Publishing comic books for me is both business and pleasure. The business side is tough, getting books into people's hands can be quite an undertaking. The pleasure side is seeing those books in people's hands and having them (GASP!) enjoy them. I had a personal note to myself for quite some time after hearing about Wowio starting. The note just said "Contact Wowio", and it took me WAY too long to get to them. But I'm glad I did. For those of you who don't know, Wowio offers books and comics on their website for free. Yes I know it sounds like magic, but it's that simple. You download, myself and the creators we represent get paid. Which is a wonderful thing. No this isn't Brain Scan's attempt to thumb our noses at the hard working retailers out there who tirelessly sell our books and the books of our competitors. We just see it as opening the field to folks who might not ever have thought to pick up a comic or walk into a comic shop. And we feel really good about that.
